Turn Claude Code into your video studio

video-shotcraft is a free skill that gets Claude to storyboard, animate and sound-design a cinematic promo for your product. These copy-paste prompts do the whole thing for you.

What's inside

These are the whole point of this page. Install video-shotcraft (that's one step, below), open Claude Code in an empty folder, swap in your own sales page URL, and paste. Claude does the rest.

1

The launch promo

The main event. Claude storyboards the video first, picks shot styles that suit your brand, films real captures of your actual page, layers in sound design, and renders it vertical for Instagram.

Use video-shotcraft to make me a launch promo for this product: [YOUR SALES PAGE URL] Storyboard it first and show me the storyboard before you build. Pick the shot styles that fit my brand, use real captures of my page, add sound design, and render it vertical for Instagram.

Before you paste

Swap [YOUR SALES PAGE URL] for the actual link — your sales page, homepage, booking page, whatever you're promoting. The more the page shows off your offer, the better the captures look.

2

The square ad version

Once the vertical promo exists, get the square cut for ads without rebuilding anything.

Take the launch promo you just made and render a square 1:1 version I can run as an ad. Keep the same shots and sound design — just reframe everything so it works in square.
3

The 15-second teaser

Short attention spans get their own cut — perfect for Stories and a pinned reel.

Cut a 15-second teaser version of the promo. Keep only the 3 strongest shots, tighten the pacing, and end on my logo with my website URL on screen.
4

The ready-made template

Not sure where to start? The skill ships with Ink Press — a complete, pre-built 36-second promo template. Ask for it by name and Claude fills it with your product.

Use video-shotcraft to make a promo for my product with the Ink Press template. Use real captures of [YOUR SALES PAGE URL] and rewrite the on-screen words in my brand voice.

video-shotcraft is a free skill for Claude Code (it works with Codex too) built by Vincent Wei. A skill is just a folder of instructions Claude reads — this one teaches Claude how to be a motion designer. It picked up over 3,000 GitHub stars in its first few weeks, which for a video tool is a small stampede.

Instead of you learning an editing app, Claude storyboards your video shot by shot, animates it, adds sound, and renders a finished MP4 — using Remotion, a tool that builds video with code, running on your own computer.

104 shot recipe cards

Pre-built cinematic shots Claude can call by name — each with its purpose, energy and timing already worked out.

Real captures of YOUR page

It films your actual sales page or product — camera moves gliding over the real thing, not stock footage pretending to be you.

Sound design included

149 sound effects and 5 background tracks, beat-synced to the cuts. The polish that makes a promo feel expensive.

161 motion previews

A browsable gallery of motion styles — see them moving, pick the ones that feel like your brand.

The real repo

It's free and open source. Have a look before you install: github.com/Vincentwei1021/video-shotcraft

No downloads page, no setup wizard. Open Claude Code and paste this — Claude fetches the skill and wires it in for you:

That's the whole install. (If you're comfortable in the terminal, the README's one-liner npx skills add Vincentwei1021/video-shotcraft does the same job.)

It's genuinely good, and it's genuinely free for most of us — but read these before you build your whole content plan around it.

The Remotion licence

The skill itself is free (Apache 2.0 licence). But it renders video through Remotion, which has its own licence: free for individuals and small teams, but bigger companies need a paid Remotion licence. If that's you, check remotion.dev/license before shipping client work.

It renders on your computer

The video is built locally, not in the cloud — so a render takes minutes, not seconds, and your laptop fan will let you know it's working. The README recommends a recent Node.js (Claude can set that up for you if it's missing).

First draft, not final cut

Treat the first render like a first draft. If a shot feels off, tell Claude — "make shot 3 slower", "swap the music for something calmer" — and re-render. That's the workflow, not a failure.

The sounds are covered

The bundled sound effects and music come under Mixkit's free commercial licence, so you can publish promos with them without a licensing headache.
